The Final Summit – two words that will change the world

David Ponder is back and this time his task is to answer a question, his answer is humanity’s last chance. The archangel Gabriel visits David, but this time he stands at the precipice of a decision. If he fails humanity will be reorganized as it was when the Flood happened. Gabriel comes at a time when David is saddened by the death of his wife and small shreds of doubt in himself begins to set in. David will meet with all of the previous Travelers and will take the chance to save humanity. Seated with the greatest minds found throughout history, they accept the challenge and task of answering the question in their attempt to save humanity from its own destruction. This journey is more than David could have expected and he learns more than he teaches. Surprises constantly await the Travelers but time is not on their side.

Or is it? I haven’t read The Traveler’s Gift, the first part of David’s story.  It’s not necessary to understand and to be pulled into his current situation. It would be nice, after finishing this one I found that I just wanted more.  While the book deals with its own issues with time, I found that I wanted more time with the characters and with the story. Though Andrews doesn’t go into the details at the end of the book, and I am certain that David is okay, I want to know what happens. It is fascinating to meet characters that have lived throughout different periods of history. It is encouraging to read about the struggles that they had throughout their life, but also how they overcame them.

The story is well-crafted and the characters are well-developed.  There are moments that will make you laugh with the characters and other moments that will make you want to scream at them.  When they get so close, but are still wrong you join them on the emotional roller coaster that they ride. I have two words for Andy Andrews: Well Done.
